Agartala, 14th May 2026: A startling discovery has stirred excitement and concern in Baligaon, near Kamalpur town, after a war-era shell was recovered from a local stream.
Reportedly, resident Madhu Deb spotted a metallic object while fishing in the waters near Baligaon High School. Upon retrieving it, locals realized it was an old shell, triggering both curiosity and alarm in the area.
Elderly residents believe the shell dates back to the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, when this border region witnessed significant military activity. Despite heavy rusting from decades underwater, the shell’s structure remains clearly identifiable.
News of the find quickly spread, drawing crowds of villagers to the site. Many described it as a rare historical relic of the liberation struggle. However, uncertainty remains over whether the shell is still active. Local residents have reportedly informed the administration, and authorities are expected to investigate the matter further.
