Agartala, 21st May 2026: Khowai district’s Ajgartila-based Maya Nursery has recently transformed into a vital hands-on training centre for local college students. With a focus on modern agriculture and horticulture, the nursery is offering young learners practical exposure beyond classroom theory.
Once employed in a corporate insurance job, entrepreneur Bijoy Gope left the sector to establish this rural initiative. His journey from corporate professional to grassroots entrepreneur has now become a source of inspiration for local youth and students.
At Maya Nursery, students are actively engaged in practical lessons such as grafting, sapling preparation, soil and fertilizer management, seedbed preparation, and plant care. Alongside agricultural techniques, they are also gaining valuable insights into entrepreneurship, learning how rural ventures can be developed and sustained.
Speaking about the initiative, Bijoy Gope emphasized that theoretical knowledge alone is not enough — real-world experience is equally essential. He revealed plans to expand the training activities on a larger scale in the future.
Local teachers and students believe this effort could pave the way for greater self-reliance and employment opportunities in agriculture-based sectors. They see Maya Nursery as a model that can inspire similar ventures across the region.
