Fisheries and animal husbandry key to employment growth: Sudhangshu

Agartala, 25th May 2026:  Tripura ARDD Minister Sudhangshu Das on Monday expressed satisfaction after participating in a significant regional review meeting held in Mizoram. The meeting was attended by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Union Minister of State George Kurian, ministers from several Northeastern states, and senior government officials.

The discussions centred on strengthening the rural economy through the development of animal husbandry and fisheries sectors, while also focusing on nutritional security and employment generation for the youth of the Northeastern region.

Speaking at the meeting, Sudhangshu Das stated that such regional review platforms are vital for enhancing coordination among states and speeding up the implementation of developmental programmes related to livestock and fisheries.

The meeting also emphasized the need for sustainable farming practices, improved infrastructure, and effective government support schemes to increase productivity and enhance the livelihoods of rural communities across the region.
