Agartala, 26th May 2026: A sudden spell of rain has once again left the roads in Kusharghat waterlogged, causing severe disruption for commuters traveling between Baikhora and Muhuripur. Frustrated by repeated damage to vehicles and the lack of administrative response, local drivers and residents staged a blockade on Tuesday morning.
According to residents, the stagnant water has already led to multiple vehicles breaking down. Despite repeated complaints to local leaders and administrative officials, no effective measures have been taken. The situation has particularly affected schoolchildren of Kusharghat, who struggle to reach classes due to the flooded roads.
Protesters demanded immediate drainage solutions, either through installation of pipes or temporary pumping machines until a permanent system is in place. Deputy Commissioner (DCM) Pabitra Das from Santirbazar subdivision office visited the site but was unable to provide a resolution.
Locals expressed disappointment at the administration’s failure to act and insisted on a long-term solution to the recurring waterlogging problem. The coming days will reveal whether authorities take concrete steps to ease travel for Kusharghat residents.
