Khan Sir named in FIR as probe widens after alleged firing video surfaces

Date:

Patna, June 5 (IANS) Police have registered a case against educator Faisal Khan — popularly known as Khan Sir, two arrested security guards and other unidentified persons in connection with the June 2 disturbance at a coaching institute in Patna’s Kadamkuan area, officials said.

According to the police, the FIR includes provisions under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with attempt to murder, along with relevant sections of the Arms Act.

The investigation into the incident at the coaching institute run by educator Faisal Khan in Patna’s Kadamkuan area has taken a significant turn following the emergence of a video purportedly showing two security guards firing into the air during the disturbance on June 2. at around 10.10 p.m.

According to police action detailed in the latest developments, two private security guards associated with the coaching institute — Talebar Singh and Pradeep Kumar — have been arrested.

Both are residents of Uttar Pradesh and are said to have produced arms licences issued outside Bihar.

Based on a written complaint submitted by Kadamkuan police station Inspector Anil Kumar, police have registered a case against Faisal Khan alias Khan Sir, the two arrested bodyguards, and other unidentified persons.

Investigators have alleged that the accused fired, or caused shots to be fired, with the intention of creating panic and fear among the public.

Police sources have stated that during questioning, the two arrested bodyguards allegedly told investigators that they fired their .315-bore rifles on the instructions of Faisal Khan.

According to the police account, each guard allegedly fired two rounds.

Authorities have seized the firearms allegedly used during the incident, and forensic as well as ballistic examinations are being carried out.

The weapons and other evidence have been sent for analysis by forensic experts.

The two guards were subsequently produced before a district court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

The controversy stems from a clash between two coaching institutes in Patna’s Kadamkuan area that allegedly involved vandalism, assault and stone-pelting.

Immediately after the incident, Khan Sir had stated that firing had taken place.

He later clarified that because of the confusion and tension prevailing at the scene, he could not clearly determine whether shots had actually been fired.

Subsequently, a video emerged that investigators are now examining as part of the case.

The police investigation is continuing, with officials reviewing CCTV footage, witness statements, forensic evidence and the newly surfaced video.

Authorities have not yet publicly released the results of the ballistic examination or the forensic analysis.

It is important to note that the allegations recorded in the FIR and the statements reportedly made during police interrogation are part of the ongoing investigation.
