Machli PHC faces allegations of poor healthcare services; Locals demand 24-hour facility

Date:

Agartala, 13th June 2026:   Healthcare services at the Machli Primary Health Centre (PHC) under Longtarai Valley Subdivision have come under criticism, with local residents alleging severe shortcomings in emergency medical care. Demanding the immediate introduction of round-the-clock services, residents and members of the ‘Tomar-Amar Club’ submitted a deputation and memorandum to the health centre authorities.

The Machli PHC is the only major healthcare facility serving the people of Machli and several adjoining remote areas. However, locals have long complained that medical services are not available during night hours and emergencies, creating serious difficulties for patients and their families.

According to club members and residents, official records mention that the health centre is supposed to provide 24-hour services, but in practice, it allegedly remains operational only from 9 AM to 4 PM every day. They claimed that patients facing critical health conditions at night, as well as pregnant women requiring urgent care, often struggle to receive timely treatment.

Residents alleged that the lack of emergency services frequently forces patients to travel long distances, sometimes worsening their conditions. Expressing concern over the issue, members of the club warned that if the administration does not take effective steps to address the demand, they will launch a larger movement with the support of the local community.

The residents are now waiting to see what action the Health Department takes to resolve the issue and ensure proper healthcare facilities in the remote area.
