Agartala, 17th June 2026: In a bid to enhance access to education and ensure safer, more convenient travel for girl students, bicycles were distributed today at Melaghar Telkajla Higher Secondary School in a vibrant ceremony held on the school premises.

The initiative, part of the state government’s educational support program, brought visible joy to the beneficiaries, many of whom had long struggled with daily travel challenges. The event was attended by the school headmaster, teachers, members of the School Management Committee, guardians, and local social worker as well as Committee Chairman Gautam Ghosh.

Addressing the gathering, speakers highlighted that several students from rural areas commute long distances to attend school, often facing difficulties that impact attendance and academic focus. The provision of bicycles is expected to significantly reduce travel hardships, save time, and enable students to dedicate more attention to their studies. They also emphasized that such initiatives play a vital role in promoting girls’ education and encouraging higher enrollment.

Students expressed happiness and gratitude, noting that the bicycles would help them reach school on time with greater ease. The programme, marked by a festive spirit, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering girls through education.
