Amra Bangali submits memorandum to West Tripura DM, raises six demands

Date:

Agartala, 18th June 2026: A delegation of the Amra Bangali party today submitted a memorandum to the West Tripura District Magistrate, pressing for urgent action on six public interest demands. The party highlighted growing public distress caused by rising unemployment, abnormal price hikes of essential commodities such as petrol, diesel, cooking gas, medicines, edible oil, pulses, and sugar, alongside increasing crimes against women and the spread of narcotics.

The memorandum cited recent incidents that have intensified public anxiety, including the unnatural death of Manisha Das at Santiniketan Medical College hostel on June 10 and the gang-rape of a Class IX student in Udaipur subdivision on June 12. The party accused the police of dismissing Manisha’s death as suicide without proper investigation, reflecting a broader failure to deliver justice.

The delegation demanded: Judicial inquiry into Manisha Das’s death under a sitting High Court judge; Special Task Force for speedy trial of crimes against women; Ban on narcotics production and sale; Curb black-marketing and prevent price hikes of essentials; Employment guarantee through industries in every block; and Withdrawal of land tax imposed on vacant plots in municipal areas.

The party urged immediate government intervention, warning that unchecked lawlessness and economic hardship could further erode public trust in the administration.
