Agartala, 18th June 2026: In a major anti-drug operation, Tripura Police seized 745 bottles of the banned Eskuf cough syrup from the Head Post Office in Agartala on Thursday.
The consignment had reportedly arrived from Kolkata through parcel services.According to West Agartala Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee, this marks the second such seizure made by the police from the same location within a week.
Chatterjee said that police had earlier recovered 393 bottles of Eskuf cough syrup from the Head Post Office last week. Acting on fresh information, officers conducted another search and intercepted eight parcels containing 745 bottles of the prohibited syrup.
The parcels were reportedly addressed to Joyguru Textile at College Tilla in Agartala. However, the shipment details included only a nine-digit mobile number, raising suspicion about the identity of the recipient.
Police have launched an investigation to trace the individuals involved in the illegal consignment and identify the drug network operating behind the supply chain. Efforts are underway to apprehend the main accused responsible for sending and receiving the banned substance.
