Agartala, 20th June 2026: Two researchers from Tripura have brought global recognition to the state by securing the prestigious Emergent Ventures Grant for an innovative healthcare technology project.
Dr. Shatadru Chakraborty, Senior Program Manager at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, and Dr. Srijib Karmakar, Postdoctoral Researcher at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, have been selected for their project on developing a portable diagnostic platform for rapid and affordable detection of liver diseases using Artificial Intelligence and graphene-based technology.
The grant, administered by the Mercatus Center, will support the development of the project’s initial prototype. The technology aims to make advanced healthcare solutions accessible to disadvantaged communities.
Both researchers, natives of Agartala and former students of Holy Cross School, Agartala, have achieved remarkable success through their dedication and scientific research. Dr. Shatadru has earned international acclaim for his work on 2-D nanomaterials, while Dr. Srijib has developed a new class of quantum dots with potential applications in medical imaging and drug delivery.
Their achievement has been hailed as a proud moment for Tripura’s scientific community.
