TSF stages protest over long-pending SC/ST vacancies

Date:

Agartala, 24th June 2026:    The Tripura Tribal Students’ Federation (TSF) staged a protest on Wednesday demanding immediate recruitment to long-pending reserved vacancies for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST).

According to the organization, a large number of posts reserved for SC and ST candidates across various government departments have remained vacant for years. As a result, eligible candidates are being deprived of employment opportunities and the representation of these communities in public services is being undermined.

Speaking to reporters at the protest site, TSF Vice-President Jon Debbarma said, “Our primary demand is the launch of a special recruitment drive to fill the backlog vacancies reserved for SC and ST communities. This is not a new policy demand but a constitutional right that must be implemented. We expect the government to act swiftly on this matter.”

TSF leaders alleged that despite repeated appeals, the state government has failed to take effective steps for a permanent solution. They stressed that timely recruitment to reserved posts is essential to ensure social justice and inclusive representation in government services.

The federation further stated that filling backlog vacancies would guarantee proper implementation of the reservation policy. They also urged the state government to prepare a comprehensive account of all reserved vacancies across departments and initiate a special recruitment process without delay.

Meanwhile, TSF warned that if the government does not take concrete measures, the organization will intensify its democratic agitation in the coming days. The federation also demanded that the administration announce a clear roadmap for filling the reserved vacancies.
