Agartala, 27th June 2026: A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday morning at Ultachhara Bru rehabilitation village in Gandachhara subdivision of Dhalai district, where a father allegedly beat his two children to death while under the influence of alcohol.
Police have detained the accused, identified as Lalchunaoma Bru (34), and launched an investigation into the matter. The deceased children were named Rishika Kha Hamti Bru (13) and Priha Smaina Bru (4).
According to preliminary reports, the accused had an altercation with his wife, Rontarung Bru (32), after consuming alcohol. When the children began crying during the quarrel, Lalchunaoma allegedly attacked them with a wooden stick in a fit of rage. Both children succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Upon receiving information, Gandachhara police rushed to the location and detained the accused. A forensic team has been summoned to examine the crime scene. Senior officials, including the Gandachhara SDPO and the Officer-in-Charge of the local police station, are supervising the investigation. Authorities have confirmed that the situation is under control.
