Agartala, 3rd July 2026: The President of India, in her capacity as the Visitor of Tripura University, has appointed Dr. Debabrata Das, Advisor, Higher Education Department, Government of Assam, as the new Vice Chancellor of Tripura University, Agartala.
Dr. Das will serve a five-year term beginning from the date he assumes office, or until he reaches the age of 70 years, whichever comes earlier.
According to the official communication, the terms and conditions of his appointment will be governed by the provisions laid down in the Act, Statutes, and Ordinances of Tripura University.
This appointment is expected to strengthen the academic and administrative leadership of the university, bringing in Dr. Das’s experience from his role in the Higher Education Department of Assam.
The letter is issued by Shreya Bhardwaj Deputy Secretary to the Government of India.
