Server Outage at Dharmanagar Power Department Disrupts Public Services for Nearly a Week

Date:

Agartala, 6th July 2026:  A prolonged server failure at the Electricity Department’s Division-I and Division-II offices in Dharmanagar has severely disrupted public services for nearly a week, leaving thousands of residents struggling to recharge prepaid electricity meters and complete essential utility-related work.

The technical breakdown has brought routine operations to a standstill, forcing long queues of residents—including elderly citizens, women, children, and daily wage workers—to wait for hours outside the office premises without receiving any service.

According to multiple affected consumers, repeated visits over the past two to three days have yielded no results, with many returning home empty-handed. The situation has become especially difficult amid intense heat, with several people reportedly spending entire days waiting at the office due to the inability to complete transactions.

Some women, in particular, have been forced to postpone daily household responsibilities as they wait for service restoration. In the long waiting hours, groups of people were even seen engaging in informal activities such as playing ludo to pass the time—highlighting the extent of inconvenience caused by the outage.

Officials from the Division-II office confirmed that the disruption is due to a technical issue and stated that full restoration of services may take an additional four to five days.

The slow pace of resolution has triggered growing public anger and concern among local residents, who are questioning the efficiency and preparedness of the department. Citizens are urging authorities to implement alternative arrangements immediately to reduce hardship and restore essential services without further delay.

As the situation continues, all eyes are now on the administration to see how quickly the crisis is resolved and normal services are restored.
