Agartala, 6th July 2026: Regular commuters on the Dharmanagar–Agartala local train route are expressing growing frustration over persistent overcrowding and alleged unauthorized entry into reserved coaches, turning daily travel into a distressing experience.
Passengers report that heavy rush has become a routine occurrence on this route. However, the situation has worsened due to the alleged entry of general ticket holders into reserved compartments, leading to frequent disputes and discomfort for legitimate reservation ticket holders.
According to several passengers, some individuals boarding the reserved coaches are demanding seats despite not having valid reservations. When questioned, they are allegedly refusing to vacate seats and, in some cases, intimidating others by claiming political connections or influence. This has reportedly created a tense and unsafe environment inside the coaches, with several passengers saying they feel discouraged from raising objections.
Commuters further allege that despite repeated incidents, there has been little effective intervention from railway authorities, including ticket checkers (TTEs) and Railway Protection Force (RPF/GRP) personnel. The lack of regular monitoring is believed to be allowing the situation to worsen.
Passengers are now urging railway authorities to take strict and immediate action to prevent unauthorized entry into reserved coaches and to ensure safe, peaceful, and hassle-free travel for legitimate ticket holders.
The issue has drawn attention particularly on the Dharmanagar–Agartala corridor, which connects key regions including Dharmanagar and Agartala, where daily commuter pressure remains consistently high.
