Jeep and bus drivers halt traffic on Radhanagar–Mohanpur road, passengers stranded

Date:

Agartala, 11th July 2026:   Commuters faced severe disruption on Saturday as Commander Jeep and bus drivers jointly suspended services along the Radhanagar–Mohanpur route. The sudden strike left hundreds of daily passengers stranded, with no vehicles available at the Radhanagar Motor Stand or on the Mohanpur road.

The shutdown followed a violent clash between Commander Jeep drivers and e-rickshaw operators, including tomtom drivers, near the Agartala Radhanagar Motor Stand. In protest, Jeep drivers refused to operate, and bus drivers expressed solidarity by keeping their vehicles off the road.

As a result, travelers heading towards Khowai, Kamalpur, Simna, and Mohanpur were caught in the gridlock, with many unable to reach their destinations. The suspension of services has sparked frustration among passengers, who described the situation as “extreme hardship” due to the lack of alternative transport.
