Agartala, 11th July 2026: A delegation led by Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Mohammad Reaz Hamidullah visited Kamalasagar Kasba area on Saturday afternoon to review border trade activities and local developments.
The team included Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Assam Zikirul Hasan Fahad, Assistant High Commissioner in Agartala Hasan Al Bashar Abul Oli, along with senior officials from both India and Bangladesh.
The delegation first held a detailed discussion at the Kamalasagar Comilla View Lodge before inspecting the Kasba border haat from the Indian side. They interacted with locals, gathered information on trade practices, and discussed issues such as the closure of the haat, the number of traders from both countries, and the types of goods usually exchanged. Officials hinted that the matter of the haat’s closure may be raised with the foreign ministries of both nations.
Later, the High Commissioner visited Dighirpar in Kamalasagar Kasba, where he engaged in discussions on the condition of the local water body. Concluding his visit, he expressed gratitude to all participants and conveyed his intention to return.
Hamidullah arrived in Tripura on Wednesday for a two-day state tour to attend the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 as a special guest. The conclave, held at the Hapania International Fairground in Agartala, aimed to strengthen Indo-Bangladesh trade relations and explore new opportunities for border-state commerce.
Officials noted that the High Commissioner appeared highly satisfied with his visit to Kamalasagar Kasba.
