Agartala, 21st July 2026 : The Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday accused the BJP-led government of failing to address the growing issue of examination paper leaks across the country and announced a nationwide campaign to highlight students’ concerns.
Addressing a press conference at the Pradesh Congress office, All India Congress leader Bijendra Prasad Singh said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has taken the students’ fight from the streets to Parliament. He alleged that in the last 12 years, 152 examination paper leak incidents have been reported, with BJP-ruled states witnessing a higher number of such cases.
Singh claimed that several students have lost their lives due to the crisis and alleged that such large-scale paper leak incidents were not seen earlier. He accused the government of diverting public attention instead of taking action on the issue.
He said the INDIA bloc stands with students and has decided to take the message to people across the country. As part of the campaign, Congress has appointed coordinators in different states.
Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, speaking at the press conference, alleged that the country is witnessing “dictatorship” and that the future of students has been pushed into uncertainty due to irregularities in national-level examinations, including NEET.
He alleged that students demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were being subjected to police action, while opposition voices were being suppressed. Roy Barman urged students to come forward and protest against issues affecting their future.
He also announced that Congress would organise a symbolic two-hour road blockade at four points on alternative national highways on July 23, from 12 noon to 2 pm, to draw the government’s attention to various issues. He said the protest would be limited to two hours to minimise inconvenience to the public.
Roy Barman further raised concerns over the quality of road construction works in the state, alleging that contractors are being forced to pay money at various levels, which is affecting the quality of infrastructure projects.
