Agartala, 27th July 2026 :  A unique spiritual tourism project is taking shape at Bandoar in Udaipur, the sacred land of Mata Tripureswari, where the Tripura Tourism Department is constructing replicas of all 51 Shakti Peeths. The ambitious initiative aims to elevate Tripura’s religious, cultural and spiritual heritage while establishing the state as a major destination for spiritual tourism.

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Adhokshajananda Devtirthaji Maharaj, the Peethadheeshwar of the Purvamnaya Govardhan Math in Puri, visited the under-construction site on Monday morning.

After inspecting the project, the Shankaracharya expressed optimism that once completed, the complex would attract thousands of devotees and pilgrims from across India and abroad. He said the spiritual centre has the potential to emerge as one of the country’s most prominent religious and tourism destinations on the global stage.

The Minister said the project is a landmark initiative that will preserve and showcase Tripura’s rich spiritual legacy while strengthening the state’s tourism sector. He added that the development is expected to become a lasting symbol of Tripura’s cultural and religious heritage for future generations.
