Agartala, 30th July 2026 : The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) on Thursday declared the results of the 2026 Year-Saving (Bachhar Bachao) examinations, formally concluding this year’s Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examination process.
Speaking at a press conference, TBSE President Dr. Dhananjay Gan Choudhury said the declaration of the Year-Saving results marked the final stage of the 2026 examination cycle. He recalled that while the main examination results this year were announced on May 24, last year’s results had been published on April 30. Likewise, the Year-Saving results, which were declared on July 24 in 2023, were released on July 30 this year after completion of the examination and evaluation process.
Dr. Choudhury said the Madhyamik Year-Saving examination concluded on June 10, with 758 students appearing. Of them, 239 candidates successfully cleared the examination. As a result, the overall Madhyamik pass percentage improved from 84.18% announced on May 24 to 84.93%, taking the final success rate to nearly 85%.
For the Higher Secondary examinations, the Year-Saving test concluded on June 15. A total of 1,570 students appeared, and 350 qualified. Consequently, the overall Higher Secondary pass percentage increased from 79.33% to 80.65%. The TBSE President, however, noted that despite the improvement, the final pass percentage remained marginally lower than the corresponding figure recorded in 2023.
Providing a statistical overview, TBSE Secretary Dr. Jaydeep Chakraborty said the board had 32,184 Madhyamik candidates this year. Before the Year-Saving examination, 27,094 students had passed. After adding the 239 successful candidates, the total number of passers reached 27,333, resulting in a final pass percentage of 84.93%.
In the Higher Secondary examination, 26,504 students appeared in total. While 21,024 had passed in the main examination, another 350 students qualified through the Year-Saving examination, taking the total number of successful candidates to 21,374 and raising the overall pass rate to 80.65%.
Dr. Chakraborty further informed that 292 Madhyamik schools achieved a 100% pass rate, while 66 Higher Secondary schools recorded cent per cent success.
District-wise, Gomati registered the highest Madhyamik pass percentage at 89.07%, followed by Sepahijala (88.58%), while Dhalai recorded the lowest at 72.65%.
For Higher Secondary, Sepahijala topped the state with a pass percentage of 85.54%, followed by South Tripura (84.51%) and North Tripura (82.54%). Dhalai recorded the lowest pass percentage at 69.05%, with the state’s final overall Higher Secondary pass rate settling at 80.65%.
