Agartala, 16th August 2026 : Residents of the Simna-Rabicharan area under Hejamara block of Mohanpur subdivision have alleged that their long-standing problems of poor road connectivity and lack of a bridge remain unresolved despite repeated assurances from successive governments and elected representatives.
Residents of Subal Singh Rabicharan Para said they are forced to cross a local river at considerable risk due to the absence of a proper road and even a basic iron bridge. School and college students, daily commuters and ordinary residents reportedly have to enter the river to cross it. Even critically ill patients face difficulties while being taken across, locals alleged.
The situation becomes particularly dangerous during the monsoon when the water level in the river rises. According to residents, emergency services such as ambulances and fire tenders are also unable to reach the area easily due to the lack of proper connectivity.
Locals said they have repeatedly approached the administration and elected representatives, including the MLA and MDC, seeking construction of a road and bridge. Although assurances have reportedly been given on several occasions, no permanent solution has been implemented so far.
“Governments and representatives have changed over the years, but our problems remain the same,” residents alleged, expressing frustration over what they described as repeated promises without concrete action.
Speaking to the media, local residents urged the government to construct a permanent road and a bridge over the river at the earliest. They also demanded proper arrangements to ensure that emergency services can reach the area without difficulty.
Residents expressed hope that their plight will finally draw the attention of the administration and that necessary steps will be taken soon to provide lasting relief through improved road connectivity and bridge construction.
