Agartala, 17th August 2026 : The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) on Monday submitted a 12-point memorandum to the District Magistrate of West Tripura, pressing for several measures aimed at improving wages and social security benefits for workers. Similar deputations were submitted to district magistrates across the state.
Among its key demands, the BMS sought an increase in the minimum monthly wage to Rs 30,000 and raising the ESIC coverage wage ceiling from Rs 21,000 to Rs 42,000. It also demanded that the minimum EPS pension be increased to Rs 27,500 per month, along with Dearness Allowance and medical benefits.
The organisation called for raising the EPF wage ceiling from Rs 15,000 to Rs 30,000, the bonus calculation ceiling from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000, and the bonus eligibility wage limit from Rs 21,000 to Rs 42,000.
The BMS further demanded higher honorariums for scheme workers, implementation of equal pay for equal work for contractual employees and an increase in the gratuity ceiling to Rs 40 lakh.
It also urged the government to immediately implement the Labour Codes after removing provisions it described as anti-worker. A BMS delegation visited the West District Magistrate’s office and formally handed over the memorandum.
