Agartala, 20th August 2026 : Dr. Joram Aniya, Member of NITI Aayog, met Tripura Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha during her visit to the State, accompanied by senior officials of NITI Aayog, to deliberate on key development priorities and opportunities for Centre–State collaboration.
The discussions identified School Education, Tourism, Sports, Innovation & Entrepreneurship/Startups as priority areas for Tripura’s growth. Special emphasis was placed on strengthening the education ecosystem through the expansion of Vidya Jyoti, Ashram and Eklavya Model Residential Schools, Smart Class initiatives, and targeted measures to reduce dropout rates.
The meeting also explored strategies to unlock the potential of Tripura’s Bamboo, Horticulture and Fishery sectors, while strengthening innovation and entrepreneurship through collaboration with the Atal Innovation Mission. Connectivity and infrastructure development, including railway expansion and the upgrading of Kailashahar and Kamalpur airports, were also discussed.
On tourism, the focus was on developing the Buddhist Circuit, promoting homestays, and leveraging Tripura’s cultural, spiritual and natural heritage. Conservation and sustainable development of Unakoti was highlighted as a key priority.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to Centre–State collaboration, knowledge sharing, and outcome-oriented interventions to accelerate Tripura’s development and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat.
