Agartala, 17th September 2026 : Rajya Sabha MP and former BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharya on Thursday said various welfare initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have made a tangible difference in the lives of people in Tripura, especially those from economically weaker sections.
Addressing a programme organised to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, Bhattacharya said Modi’s 25-year journey in public life, beginning with his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001 and continuing as Prime Minister since 2014, represents a significant chapter in the country’s political and public life.
He said Modi has focused on the welfare of different sections of society, including the poor, women, workers and youth.
According to Bhattacharjee, the BJP is observing the Prime Minister’s birthday through a series of programmes centred on Seva, Sushasan and Sankalp from September 17 to October 7.
As part of the celebrations, BJP workers of Banamalipur Mandal offered prayers at a Kali temple for the Prime Minister’s long life and continued service to the nation. They also organised a cleanliness drive under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Bhattacharya particularly highlighted the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), saying the housing scheme has helped economically weaker families in Tripura move towards secure and permanent housing.
He said many poor families who had earlier found it difficult to envisage owning a pucca house have benefited from the scheme.
The Rajya Sabha MP also said BJP workers would visit the homes of beneficiaries to understand the implementation of various government welfare schemes and assess their impact at the grassroots level.
He said the programmes being organised as part of the birthday observance seek to reinforce the spirit of public service while creating greater awareness about welfare initiatives and their implementation among the people.
