Agartala, 19th September 2026 : Preparations for the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) elections in Tripura have gained momentum with the State Election Commission completing the draft notification of polling stations across all 21 urban local bodies.
State Election Commission Secretary Anurag Sen said the draft notification has been issued for all ULBs, covering the Agartala Municipal Corporation, Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats.
A total of 784 polling stations have been proposed across the 21 ULBs under the draft arrangement. The respective District Magistrates and Collectors, serving as District Municipal Election Officers, have notified the proposed polling stations in their jurisdictions.
The Commission has now invited claims and objections from the public and other stakeholders. The deadline for filing objections is September 21, while the concerned ULB authorities have been asked to dispose of the claims and objections by September 23.
According to Sen, the final list of polling stations is scheduled to be notified on September 25.
Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has not yet disclosed the election schedule for the 21 ULBs. Sen said the Commission would announce the detailed programme and guidelines after obtaining the required approvals from the competent authorities and completing the necessary formalities.
The civic elections are expected to cover all 21 Urban Local Bodies in Tripura, including the Agartala Municipal Corporation, Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats.
