Agartala, 19th September 2026 : With the Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) approaching, the Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday held a high-level organisational meeting in Agartala to chalk out its election preparedness and strengthen the party machinery.
The meeting was held at Muktadhara Auditorium in the presence of Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha and was attended by ministers, MLAs, MDCs, district and mandal presidents, state office-bearers and senior party leaders.
The discussions centred on the party’s organisational strategy for the Village Committee elections. Leaders and workers from different parts of the state participated in the deliberations, while instructions were issued regarding election-related activities and organisational responsibilities.
Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Manik Saha said the meeting was convened specifically in view of the upcoming Village Committee elections.
“Workers from different parts of the state participated in the organisational meeting, and the concerned MLAs were also present. We discussed what needs to be done and what should be avoided during the elections,” Saha said.
He added that the party leadership reviewed various organisational aspects and provided necessary directions to its workers and leaders to ensure coordinated preparations.
BJP Tripura State President Abhishek Debroy said the meeting was not limited to the Village Committee polls and also covered preparations for the upcoming by-election and other elections.
According to Debroy, discussions were held on strengthening and reorganising the party organisation at different levels following the formation of the NDA alliance.
“Mandal presidents, district presidents, MLAs, ministers, state office-bearers, senior leaders and other functionaries took part in the meeting in the presence of the Chief Minister,” he said.
The organisational exercise comes ahead of the Village Committee elections, with political parties stepping up their grassroots-level activities across the state.
Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Speaker and MLA Rampada Jamatia, former MP Rebati Tripura and former Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik were among those present at the meeting.
