Agartala, 26th September 2026 : Allegations of serious negligence by teachers have once again raised concerns over the academic environment at Satchand High Basic School, with parents claiming that regular teaching and learning activities are being severely affected.
Parents alleged that some teachers have been attending the school irregularly and operating according to their own convenience for a long time.
The school provides education from Class I to Class VIII. At present, around 60 students are enrolled in the school, while there are only five teachers.
According to parents, some teachers allegedly come to and leave the school according to their own convenience. At times, when several teachers remain absent due to leave or other reasons, classes have to be conducted by only one or two teachers. Parents claimed that this is having a serious impact on the education of the students.
Allegations have also been raised regarding the mid-day meal programme. Parents claimed that meals are not served at the scheduled time and that, on several occasions, students are made to wait until after the stipulated time. They further alleged that students are sometimes forced to sit in the open field while having their meals.
Parents also alleged that the head teacher has been unable to properly manage the school. They expressed growing resentment over the fact that several problems have reportedly continued for a long time without effective intervention.
Local residents and parents have urged officials of the concerned Education Department to conduct an on-the-spot investigation and take immediate steps to address the problems affecting teaching and the mid-day meal system.
They also demanded that regular attendance of teachers be ensured in the interest of the students.
