Agartala, 27th September 2026 : All arrangements have been completed for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Village Committee elections, which will be held across the state on September 28 amid extensive security measures.
According to the Tripura State Election Commission, polling will take place for 2,950 seats in 587 Village Committees. Of the total 4,597 seats, candidates have already been declared elected unopposed in 1,644 seats, while three seats remain vacant due to the absence of nominations.
A total of 8,176 candidates are in the fray for the seats going to polls, with around 6.65 lakh voters eligible to cast their votes.
Polling will be conducted at 1,095 polling stations out of the 1,550 identified for the election. Ballot papers in white, light pink, light green and light blue will be used for different categories of seats to help voters and polling officials identify them easily.
Security has been significantly strengthened across the polling areas. The Commission has deployed 74 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) along with around 8,977 personnel of the State Police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR). More than 1,500 senior officers from different security agencies have also been assigned to monitor the overall law-and-order situation.
Additional security arrangements have been made at polling stations identified as highly sensitive, with CAPF personnel deployed at such locations.
As many as 7,458 polling personnel, organised into 1,243 teams, have been assigned election duties. Polling teams carrying election materials began moving from designated distribution centres on Sunday morning and most teams have already reached their respective polling locations.
Following the completion of polling on September 28, the teams will return the ballot boxes to designated receiving centres at the offices of the respective Returning Officers.
The SEC said polling personnel have undergone training on the Standard Operating Procedures governing the ballot process. Returning Officers have also been regularly briefed through video conferences to ensure uniform implementation of election guidelines.
Counting centres have been identified across the state, and counting supervisors and assistants are being appointed and trained ahead of the counting process.
The State Election Commission has urged all eligible voters to participate in the election and exercise their franchise peacefully.
