Identify Gaps, Strengthen Grassroots Network: Sudip Roy Barman to Congress Workers

Agartala, 27^th September 2026 : Tripura Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Sunday said the party is undertaking a detailed review of its organisational structure at the grassroots level, with emphasis on identifying weaknesses, addressing gaps and improving coordination among workers.

Addressing a party workers’ conference in Agartala, Roy Barman said the meetings were being organised across Assembly constituencies as part of the Congress’s ongoing organisational activities.

He said the exercise was aimed at assessing the party’s strengths and shortcomings and determining how the organisation should function more effectively in the coming days.“These are not routine meetings. We are discussing our strengths, weaknesses and the way forward for our organisation,” Roy Barman said.

The Congress MLA also clarified that the party’s formal preparations for the upcoming urban local body elections would begin after the election schedule is officially announced.

Emphasising the need for a stronger grassroots network, Roy Barman said Congress workers must identify organisational loopholes and work collectively to overcome them. According to him, strengthening booth-level activities and establishing a systematic organisational structure could help the party improve its performance.

He also took a dig at the BJP’s organisational functioning, making allegations about the manner in which booth- and state-level responsibilities are assigned within the party.

Roy Barman claimed that Congress has continued to perform well in several booths despite limited organisational activity and a shortage of workers in some areas. He argued that better coordination and stronger organisational machinery could further improve the party’s performance.

“We have to understand where the gaps are, identify our weaknesses and find ways to overcome these challenges,” he said.

The MLA said the ongoing workers’ conferences would help the party assess its organisational position, strengthen its grassroots network and develop a more effective roadmap for future political activities.
