Agartala, 4th October 2026 : Tripura’s Dhalai district was jolted by a 3.8-magnitude earthquake in the early hours of Sunday, triggering brief panic among residents in several areas.
According to data released by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at 12:57:38 am on Sunday. The epicentre was located in Dhalai district, with the seismic activity originating at a depth of around 30 kilometres below the Earth’s surface.
Residents in different parts of Dhalai reportedly felt the tremors for a brief period. The earthquake caused some concern among locals, particularly due to the late-night timing.
However, no casualties or injuries have been reported so far. There were also no reports of damage to houses, cracks in buildings or major infrastructure following the tremor.
The National Centre for Seismology shared details of the earthquake through its official X handle after the tremor was recorded.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation, while no major damage has been reported from any part of the district so far.
