TRKS holds rally to thank govt for DA, HRA hikes

Date:

Agartala, 8th October 2026 : The Tripura Rajya Karmachari Sangha, affiliated with the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), organised a rally in Agartala on Thursday to thank the state government for announcing a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR), along with an increase in House Rent Allowance (HRA) for government employees.

Addressing the rally, a leader of the Tripura Rajya Karmachari Sangha said the latest decisions fulfilled two of the long-standing demands raised by the employees’ organisation. He said the HRA for serving employees has been increased from 8% to 10%, while its maximum ceiling has been raised from ₹3,000 to ₹10,000.

He said state employees are now receiving 54% DA and expressed gratitude to the state government for the measures. Referring to the remaining demands concerning DA, he said Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha has indicated that efforts would be made to address them gradually.

The organisation also welcomed the creation of 1,560 new posts by the state government, saying the move would create employment opportunities for unemployed youth. The leader said the BMS and Tripura Rajya Karmachari Sangha would continue to raise issues concerning both employees and job seekers.

BMS Tripura president Debasree Kalai said the rally was organised to acknowledge the government’s decisions on DA and HRA. She said the organisation was not concerned only with the interests of existing employees but also wanted the government to address unemployment through a sound and transparent recruitment process.

Kalai extended gratitude to Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha and members of his Cabinet for the decisions. She also expressed hope that the proposed Eighth Pay Commission would address existing pay anomalies and disparities among teachers and government employees.

The employees’ organisation further reiterated its demand for a mechanism to regularise irregular employees even before the constitution of the Eighth Pay Commission.
