Agartala,  13th  October 2026 :  . Khowai district police have stepped up security preparations ahead of Durga Puja, with around 1,100 personnel set to be deployed to maintain law and order and ensure the smooth celebration of the festival.

Khowai District Superintendent of Police Bogati Jagadishwar Reddy said that a total of 408 Durga Puja celebrations are scheduled to be held across the district this year, compared to 397 last year, marking an increase of 11 pujas.

According to the SP, the security arrangements will involve personnel from the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), regular police and civil police. The deployment will focus on maintaining public order, ensuring the safety of devotees and managing crowds at puja pandals throughout the festive period.

The police have also instructed puja committees and local clubs to engage their own volunteers to assist in crowd management and ensure the orderly movement of visitors. The coordination between police personnel and volunteers is expected to help prevent congestion and maintain discipline at crowded locations.

CCTV surveillance has been given special importance in the security plan. Puja committees have been directed to ensure that cameras installed at their respective pandals remain operational round the clock to facilitate continuous monitoring.

In addition, the district police have announced plans to install CCTV cameras at all 28 police stations in Khowai district to strengthen surveillance and improve monitoring of activities in different areas.

The police are taking these measures to ensure that devotees can celebrate Durga Puja in a peaceful and secure atmosphere. Security deployment and surveillance arrangements are expected to play a key role in managing the increased number of celebrations and the anticipated gathering of visitors during the festival.
