Agartala, 15th October 2026 : The Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn from the entire state of Tripura on October 15, bringing the 2026 monsoon season to a close, the Meteorological Centre, Agartala, confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday.
Data released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) shows that Tripura received 1,160.1 mm of rainfall during the season, against the normal average of 1,391.1 mm. This represents a deficit of 17 per cent compared to the state’s usual seasonal rainfall.
During the monsoon period, West Tripura recorded the highest single-day rainfall in the state, with 229.2 mm, according to the weather department.
The IMD also reported dry weather conditions across Tripura over the past 24 hours, indicating a shift towards the drier post-monsoon season following the withdrawal of the rain-bearing system.
The monsoon’s departure this year closely follows the pattern observed in 2025. Last year, the seasonal winds withdrew from the entire state on October 14, the Meteorological Centre stated.
With the monsoon now withdrawn, predominantly dry conditions are expected to prevail across Tripura in the coming days. However, residents are advised to keep track of weather forecasts and advisories issued by the IMD for any subsequent changes in conditions.
The state’s seasonal rainfall figures indicate that precipitation remained below the normal benchmark during the 2026 monsoon, leaving Tripura with a shortfall of more than 230 mm against its long-term seasonal average.
