Protest Withdrwan: CM Appeals to TET Paper-I Qualified Candidates, Assures Action on Recruitment

Date:

Agartala, 16th October 2026 :   Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha has appealed to candidates who qualified in the TET Paper-I examination to withdraw their ongoing sit-in protest outside Shiksha Bhawan, assuring them that the state government is aware of their demands and will take necessary steps to address the issue.

In view of the ongoing agitation, the Chief Minister urged the candidates to maintain faith in the government, stating that there was no need to continue the protest as the authorities were already aware of their concerns.

He also pointed out that the agitation was causing inconvenience to both the general public and the protesters themselves, and appealed to the candidates to call off their demonstration.

The TET Paper-I qualified candidates began their sit-in protest outside Shiksha Bhawan in Agartala on Thursday, demanding immediate recruitment. The agitation began amid the Durga Puja festivities, with the candidates continuing to press for the early completion of the recruitment process and the issuance of appointment letters.

According to official sources, the recruitment process for TET Paper-I qualified candidates has been delayed due to legal complications. The matter is currently pending before the Tripura High Court, while several other cases concerning the correctness of examination answers are also under judicial consideration.

Recently, the High Court directed the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT), to award additional marks to certain candidates in connection with a disputed answer in the final answer key. The court’s directive is understood to have added another layer of complexity to the recruitment process.

Sources said nearly 3,000 candidates had attempted the question in question. If marks are revised in accordance with the court’s order, the existing merit list may need to be recalculated and rearranged. This could require further administrative steps before the recruitment process can be completed.
