Agartala, 27th October 2026 : While residents continue to face drinking water-related problems, a leaking pipeline has reportedly been wasting precious water every day for nearly six months in the Kucha inala Gram Panchayat area under Durgachoumuhani RD Block in Kamalpur.
According to local residents, a section of the drinking water pipeline installed under the Jal Jeevan Mission has been leaking for months, allowing water to flow onto the road daily. Residents said the wastage could have been avoided if the damaged pipeline had been repaired in time.
Villagers alleged that they had repeatedly informed the Gram Panchayat authorities about the problem. Although assurances were reportedly given that the pipeline would be repaired, no permanent solution has been implemented so far.
The prolonged leakage has raised concerns among residents over the maintenance of infrastructure under the Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to ensure access to safe drinking water for every rural household.
Expressing disappointment over the continued wastage, locals questioned why a problem affecting such an essential resource had remained unresolved for nearly six months despite repeated complaints.
Residents have urged the Kucha inala Gram Panchayat and the concerned drinking water supply department to take immediate action to repair the damaged pipeline and prevent further wastage. They have also demanded an explanation for the prolonged delay in addressing the issue.
The villagers are now waiting to see when the concerned authorities will take concrete steps to resolve the problem permanently.
