Tripurasundari Temple Gears Up for Grand Diwali Celebrations; Massive Security Deployment Planned

Date:

Agartala, 2nd November 2026 :  Extensive security arrangements are being put in place at the renowned Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur, Gomati district, ahead of the three-day Diwali festival scheduled to take place from November 8 to 10. Anticipating an unprecedented turnout of devotees and visitors this year, the district administration and police have stepped up preparations to ensure peaceful and hassle-free celebrations.

Gomati District Superintendent of Police Anirban Das said that the annual Diwali festival at the historic temple attracts thousands of devotees every year. However, this time, the administration is expecting the number of visitors to nearly double compared to last year, owing to several special attractions planned for the celebrations.

One of the biggest highlights of this year’s festival will be a spectacular drone show on November 8, organised under the leadership of the Gomati District Magistrate. More than 500 drones are expected to light up the night sky, creating stunning formations and captivating visual displays for the audience.

In view of the anticipated surge in footfall, the district police have drawn up an extensive security plan. Around 2,200 security personnel will be deployed across the temple premises and adjoining areas to maintain law and order and ensure the smooth conduct of the festival, SP Anirban Das said.

The security arrangements will include personnel from the Tripura Police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and plainclothes security teams. Special deployment will be made at sensitive locations to regulate crowd movement, prevent congestion and maintain effective surveillance throughout the celebrations.

The SP emphasised that the primary objective of the arrangements is to ensure that devotees can offer prayers at the temple without inconvenience while enjoying the festive atmosphere in a safe and peaceful environment.

He further stated that special measures are being taken to prevent any untoward incidents during the festival. A dedicated security team is also being constituted to identify and keep a close watch on potential troublemakers, with immediate action to be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt the celebrations.

With thousands of devotees expected to converge on Udaipur, the administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the three-day Diwali festival at Mata Tripura Sundari Temple passes off peacefully, securely and in a festive spirit.
