Eight injured in cracker blast in Jagatsinghpur district

 As many eight persons, including four children and two Police personnel, were injured in a fire cracker blast during Chandan Yatra at Sarala temple in Jagatsinghpur district on late Friday night.

Sources said first all the eight injured were admitted to Manijanga hospital but later five including two children were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital after their condition deteriorated.

As per the reports, the mishap occurred as one of the crackers fell on the stack of crackers leading to explosion. Persons standing close to it were injured.

As per the tradition, crackers are blasted on the concluding day of the 21-day-long Chandan Yatra . This year the Yatra started on Akshay Tritiya day and concluded on Friday.

Jagatsinghpur SP visited the spot after the accident and took stock of the situation.
