Agartala, June 18, 2023: In a tumultuous turn of events, the relentless downpour resulted in the toppling of enormous trees, causing significant disruptions in the lives of local residents. The incident occurred in close proximity to the Radha Madhav Bari temple, situated within the Sonamura Nagar Panchayat area. The heavy rainfall commenced at approximately 11:30 a.m., triggering the fall of an ancient and majestic mango tree from the premises of the Radha Madhav temple. The colossal tree, uprooted by the force of nature, crashed onto nearby shops, inflicting severe damage and leaving several shopkeepers injured.
The impact of the falling tree extended beyond the shops, with the road bearing the brunt of the incident. Numerous vehicles parked along the road suffered damage as the massive mango tree collided with the shops, leading to a sudden standstill on the Sonamura-Boxanagar main road. Swift action was taken following the incident, as personnel from the Sonamura Nagar Panchayat, Police Administration, and Fire Department swiftly arrived at the scene. Once the rainfall subsided, a meticulous rescue operation ensued, involving the clearance of the road by cutting through fallen trees.
