Agartala, July 25, 2023: An event is being held at ITPO, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on July 29 and 30 next to mark the completion of the 3rd anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The event aims to bring together all stakeholders to discuss, deliberate, and share insights on various aspects of NEP 2020 and its implementation. The highlight of the event will be an address by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing a press conference here at NIT, Agartala’s Transit House on Tuesday afternoon, institute’s Director Prof SK Patra said that the event has extended invitations to all Vice-Chancellors, Directors, and numerous academicians, who play vital roles in shaping the education landscape of the country. The objective is to engage in fruitful discussions and collaborations to further strengthen the implementation of NEP 2020.
NIT Agartala, being an autonomous institute, has found the implementation of NEP 2020 relatively easier, as some aspects of the policy are already prevailing in the institute. Multiple activities have been conducted to sensitize the faculty and students about the various features of NEP 2020.
The institute organized several webinars and seminars, including a webinar on ‘NEP 2020: Impact on Tech Education,’ a one-day webinar on the ‘Role of Teachers in National Education Policy,’ and workshops on future challenges of professional education in the perspective of NEP 2020.
Highlighting some notable initiatives taken by NIT Agartala in the context of NEP 2020, Prof Patra said signing MOUs with different national and international institutions for credit transfer and research collaboration. They have also proposed to teach certain courses in local/regional languages for better understanding and accessibility.
To promote flexible education, the institute plans to implement regulations and curricula with multiple entry and exit options. Additionally, they have registered with the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) to enable students to learn at their own pace and redeem credits to seek admission directly in the second year at any university.
NIT Agartala is focused on improving its ranking at the national and international levels and has engaged in industry-institute interactions to update the curriculum in emerging areas such as AI, Robotics, Data Sciences, and Cybersecurity.
With the mission to implement the proposals of NEP 2020, NIT Agartala aims to foster a comprehensive and student-centric education system, in line with the national vision for the future of education in India.
