Agartala, 27th July 2023: The Ranglong Community under the banner of Ranglong Youth Association (RYA) has organised a Candlelight Vigil at Noagang, Dharmanagar, North Tripura on July 27, 2023 in solidarity with the Kuki-Zo brothers and sisters in violence-ridden Manipur state of India.
The Candlelight Vigil has been joined by thousands of like-minded peoples across the community to express their deep concern on the orchestrated pogrom of the Kuki-Zo brothers and sisters in Manipur.
The community had expressed its shamefulness on how the Meitei radicals in Manipur had paraded naked and raped to our Kuki-Zo sisters in broad daylight. The incident is indeed barbaric, savage, uncivilised and wild, which had brought shame to the entire human race. The way the Meitei goons are given the free hand to behave in such a wild manner remains a standing question which needs to be answered by the concerned government.
The community had made an appeal to the concerned state and central government for immediate peace and harmony in Manipur. They had accordingly raised their voice to: (i) stop violence against the Kuki-Zo brothers and sisters (ii) stop burning alive to children and women (iii) stop immediately the culture of rape (iv) ensure justice for the Kuki-Zo sisters who are paraded naked and raped (v) ensure transparency in the judicial proceedings of the rapist (vi) to stop justifying rape, beheading, and burning alive by certain Meitei intellectual radicals in Manipur.
They had also categorically appealed to the incumbent Chief Minister of Manipur Shri N. Biren Singh to immediately change his world view on the Kuki-Zo nation and accept the nature of Indian plural society or to leave the Kuki-Zo nation alone to administer themselves.
The constant prayer is with the two sisters and all other victims of Kuki-Zo brothers and sisters in Manipur, and may God give them the strength to endure the pain they have been going through.
