Agartala, September 25: Former Chairman of TIPRA Motha, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, criticized the CPIM on Monday for opposing the bandh called by Tipra Motha to press their demand for a constitutional solution of the indigenous people of Tripura.

Pradyot lambasted the CPIM, stating that the party, which had been in power in the state for an extended period, had only brought poverty to the indigenous people of Tripura.

“When Tipra Motha called for a strike on September 30, the CPIM protested against it. During the elections, the CPIM asked us not to field any candidates for the sake of opposition and unity. But when we speak up for the rights of the indigenous people, the CPIM held a press conference to protest the bandh. Do you want us to be slaves? Do you want to suppress us? We will negotiate with Delhi for our rights, sticking to our stance. The CPIM might view our struggle as political, but it transcends politics. This is a fight for the future and for our next generation,” said Pradyot.

He stated that the CPIM had governed the state for an extended period and had neglected the indigenous people.

“What have we received? Poverty, no teachers in schools, no permission to write exam papers in Kokborok. You played with our emotions. Now, if we go to the police, they don’t listen to us. We have power in name but no actual power, as Mizoram, Nagaland, and Meghalaya do. Because of the CPIM, we are powerless. You people have deprived the indigenous people of the state. We will speak in one voice to send a message to Delhi. If the CPIM wants to oppose it, let them. I will show who the real tiger is,” said Debbarma.
