Agartala, October 20: The Bamutia police outpost conducted a successful anti-narcotics operation on Thursday night, ahead of the Sharadiya Durgotsava festival. The police raided several places, including Kali Bazar, under the Bamutia police station and recovered a large quantity of illegal liquor. A woman was also arrested in connection with the case.
The anti-narcotics operation was led by Bamutia police outpost officer-in-charge Sanjay Debbarma and a team of police and TSR personnel.
Debbarma told the media that the operation was aimed at ensuring peace and harmony in the Bamutia outpost area during the festival season and preventing any disruption of the festive mood by drug dealers.
He said that the police seized 76 bottles of whiskey and 65 cans of beer from two locations. He added that the legal process was completed and appropriate action was taken against the woman who was arrested.
He also said that the anti-narcotics operation would continue and that he would not tolerate any drug-related activities in the Bamutia police outpost area.
