Three critically injured in auto-bus collision near Bishalgarh

Agartala, October 14: A speeding auto rickshaw collided with a CNG-powered bus on the national highway near Bishalgarh Gate No. 2 on Friday afternoon, leaving three people critically injured. The auto driver and two passengers were rescued by the fire brigade personnel and rushed to Bishalgarh sub-divisional hospital.

The injured have been identified as Shipon Banik, the auto driver, and Lakshmi Bhattacharya and Manish Bhattacharya, the passengers. Shipon is a resident of Gokulnagar area, while Lakshmi and Manish Bhattacharya are from Office Tilla area of Bishalgarh.

According to the doctor on duty at Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital, the injured were referred to TMC Hospital at Hapania for better treatment after first aid. He said that their condition was critical.

The locals who witnessed the incident said that the auto was coming from Gokulnagar and the bus was going towards Bishalgarh when they collided head-on near Bishalgarh Gate No. 2. The impact of the collision was so severe that the auto was badly damaged and the bus also suffered some damage.

The locals informed the fire brigade and the police about the accident. The fire brigade arrived at the spot and extricated the injured from the auto with difficulty. The police also reached the spot and took the bus driver into custody. They are investigating the cause of the accident.
