Eshwarappa warns Muslims

Date:

Amid rising tension in Shivamogga following the clashes between two communities on Independence day, former Karnataka Minister K S Eshwarappa on Tuesday warned Muslims against indulging in goondaism.

“Our government is making all efforts to maintain peace. I do not say that all Hindus and Muslims are involved in disturbing peace. Hindu society is strong. It is not weak. If the Hindu society wakes up, Muslim goondas will not last. But the Hindu society does not want to take law into their hands. Therefore they have left it to the government to take action,” Eshwarappa told reporters here.

The BJP leader made the remark after meeting the Chief Minister and sought strict action against people blamed for Monday’s violence in Shivamogga.

A man has been put behind bars for dismantling Veer Savarkar’s flex on Monday in Shivamogga. Another man was shot in his leg after he tried to attack a policemen with a knife, he said.

“This is just a sample shown by the police. I would like to tell senior Muslim leaders who have been making efforts to maintain peace that they should advise those Muslim youth who are indulging in goondaism and killing people from staying away from such acts. If not, the government has begun taking action and Muslim goondas will bear the brunt,” the BJP leader said.
