BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 5th December 2023 :  The dialysis department at GB Hospital here is currently under scrutiny as a wave of complaints from patients and their families has highlighted concerning issues plaguing the essential medical service. Distressed family members report a significant disruption in the provision of basic amenities, including a prolonged absence of drinking water services within the dialysis department for the past one and a half months.

One family, speaking on behalf of a patient, disclosed that the shortage of water in the dialysis unit has forced patients to endure extended waits, spending two to three hours outside the ward. This has resulted in considerable inconvenience and discomfort for individuals seeking crucial dialysis treatments.

Furthermore, it has come to light that the supply of heparin injections, a vital component of the dialysis process, previously provided free of charge by the government at GB Hospital, has allegedly been halted for the past month. The abrupt discontinuation of this complimentary medical provision places an added financial burden on the patients’ families, as the same injection is reportedly priced at Rs 335 in the market. Consequently, families find themselves grappling with unexpected expenses and the challenge of accessing essential medication.

Expressing their dissatisfaction, the patient’s family lamented that despite notifying hospital authorities about these issues, no remedial actions have been taken. The lack of a prompt response from the hospital administration adds to the distress faced by patients and their families, raising concerns about the overall quality of service within the dialysis department at GB Hospital. Authorities are urged to address these grievances swiftly to ensure the well-being of patients and uphold the hospital’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services.
