Agartala, December 21:  In a comprehensive effort to enhance disaster preparedness, drills were conducted across the state on Thursday, spanning 41 locations. The initiative, organized by the Tripura Disaster Management Authority and supported by the National Disaster Management Authority, aimed to assess the state’s readiness to handle natural disasters. Notably, simulated scenarios were enacted at 41 different sites, with additional rehearsals held at IGM Hospital in the capital.

Conducted annually, these exercises serve as a crucial evaluation of the state’s disaster response capabilities. State Disaster Management Secretary TK Debnath was in attendance during the drill at IGM Hospital, emphasizing the importance of such preparedness initiatives. The focus of the day’s exercises centered on post-earthquake response strategies, particularly addressing the rescue of individuals trapped in multi-story buildings.

Secretary TK Debnath explained that the drills, performed at 41 locations statewide and five within Agartala city, involved the active participation of various departments. These coordinated efforts are essential in gauging the effectiveness of disaster response protocols and ensuring the safety and well-being of the population in the event of a natural calamity.
