Date:

Agartala, January 06: A police constable was arrested on Saturday for misbehaving with a judge in Bishalgarh court. The constable, identified as Rupanta Dangu, was working in the office of Sepahijala District’s Superintendent of Police.

Dangu was summoned as a witness in a murder case that took place in Ghanimara area under Bishalgarh police station in 2017. The case was being heard by Bishalgarh District and Sessions Court Judge Debasish Kar.

According to sources, Dangu appeared in the court after consuming ‘kheini’, a tobacco product, and did not follow the court order. He also demanded to see the transcript of his previous statement in the case, which annoyed the judge.

The judge then handed over Dangu to Bishalgarh police, who arrested him and took him to the hospital for medical examination. He will be produced before the court on Monday.
