Agartala: Aug 19. The Mahila Police Volunteers of Tripura Police today went to meet Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at his residence demanding an increase in monthly allowance. However, they couldn’t meet as the CM was busy with his scheduled events.

Speaking with reporters the Mahila Police Volunteers said their main demand is to increase the monthly allowance from Rs. 1000 because they have been performing their duties in exchange of only 1000 rupees since the beginning. They said they have informed the state police headquarters, district magistrate, and various administrative officers regarding the problems which they have facing for many years.

But no one has taken any initiative to increase the salary and allowances. So finally today they came to meet the Chief Minister and Home Minister Dr. Manik Saha at around 8:30 in the morning. They will get an opportunity to meet the administrative staff in front of the Chief Minister’s residence. But the surprising thing is that despite standing for hours, they did not get a chance to meet the Chief Minister.

Later they expressed their anger and said that even after making many demands, the concerned departments and the state government are not listening to them. They said that the money they are receiving is not enough to pay the mobile phone bills. In the end, the women police volunteers returned home disappointed. Earlier also many times the Mahila Police Volunteers staged many dharnas and protest in front of Tripura Police Headquarters demanding a hike in their salary as with this money they can’t run their families.Further, they have also alleged that money of more than 14 months are pending which the state government has not yet cleared.
