One held with 218 FL bottles from passenger auto*

Agartala, 21st January 2024 :   In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor activities, the West Agartala police station seized 218 bottles of imported liquor of various brands from a passenger auto in the capital’s Colonel Chowmuni area. The operation, based on a confidential tip-off, resulted in the immediate arrest of auto driver Dipankar Dey.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of West Agartala police station revealed that the operation was launched after receiving reliable information about a large quantity of smuggled liquor being transported to Natun Nagar in a passenger auto. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the police positioned themselves in the Colonel Chowmuni area, where the suspect auto was expected to pass through.

As anticipated, the police intercepted the targeted passenger auto with the license plate TR-01F-2376 in the Choumuhani area. The auto, driven by Dipankar Dey, was thoroughly searched, leading to the discovery of 218 bottles of imported liquor of different brands.

Dipankar Dey was arrested on the spot, and the seized liquor, identified as Bileti, has an estimated market value of Rs 60,000. The operation reflects the police’s commitment to curbing illegal activities and maintaining law and order in the region.
