To reduce road accidents CM flags off 24/7 highway patrolling vehicles

Agartala: August 22. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha today said that the rate of road traffic accident has increasing followed by fatality rates in the state.CM Dr Saha said this while flagging off four 24/7 Highway Patrolling vehicle in Agartala on Monday in a bid to reduce the road traffic accident, and other highway related crimes.

 “These four vehicles will be on duty 24/7 in the Agartala-Sabroom national highway which will cover West, Gomati, Sepahijala and South district. For such patrolling road traffic accidents will significantly reduced. These vehicles can easily trace the drivers with intoxicated condition to stop further road accident. Breathing analyzer, speed machines are installed inside this vehicle. Crimes that took place in roads will also be reduced. Such steps will alert people. And road traffic accident will reduce”, the CM said.

He further said that as per data from 2020 to till that more than 90, 000 vehicles plied in the Agartala Sabroom national highway. “In every month around 8% road traffic accidents are taking place which is increasing apart from this fatality rate is also increased by 25%. We are keeping close eye on this. I have directed the DGP to take all possible measures to reduce the numbers of road traffic incidents and highway related crimes”, the CM added.
